Our Engagement
Marshall Wace is an equal opportunity employer. The diverse perspectives and abilities of our staff are recognised as invaluable assets in helping the firm achieve its goals. Our employees are encouraged to bring their ideas and personal experiences in ways that help support each other, which in turn, benefits our clients.
We recognise that our industry has historically faced challenges in achieving gender balance, as well as ethnic representation, and we are continually seeking to attract more women and ethnic minorities into financial services, particularly in the investment, quantitative and technology fields, which make up a significant proportion of our headcount. Diversity of thought is key to disruption and change, and we are focused on empowering students and young people to break through barriers to reach their full potential.
We continue to work with industry bodies and other groups to establish and drive initiatives
to address this issue, primarily focused at the school and university/college level, where we
believe our engagement is likely to have the greatest impact. Our current engagements
include:
OxWoCS aims to support and promote women in computer science. We have sponsored the society for the past 3 years and continue to provide support.
Marshall Wace launched its bursary program with ARK in 2012 and over the past 9 years has awarded over 180 bursaries and 1000+ school leaver prizes have been awarded to support students through university.
Marshall Wace sponsors WSET which aims to encourage female science and engineering graduates to pursue careers in SET, as well as to encourage young girls to consider pursuing SET degrees at university.
Marshall Wace is a STEM certified employer for Hire Stem Women, which is a student recruitment platform that is passionate about helping diverse candidates secure jobs within science, technology, engineering and maths fields.
The All Stars Project is focused on bridging racial, economic and social division by helping young people from inner-cities ages 16 to 21 learn to perform as professionals. DSY is Marshall Wace North America’s Charity of the Year, which builds upon the support we provide an on-going basis. We have held information sessions, mock interviews, interviewing/resume writing workshops and have also hosted a DSY intern.
Minds Matter connects driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation and possibilities to succeed in college. In partnership with Minds Matter, the Marshall Wace Scholars’ program awards academic scholarships to 20 New York based students per year to pay for college tuition and/or education expenses. Each grant is awarded over a four-year period.
Women in Investing (WII), a Student Club at Harvard Business School, seeks to strengthen the network of current and former women at Harvard Business School who are pursuing investment management roles in private equity, growth equity, public equity, and venture capital.
